History
Hanrob Pty Ltd, trading as Hanrob, The Ultimate Pet Destination was established in 1981 in Heathcote, 45 kilometres south of Sydney. The company was founded by Bob and Hannie Biggs who had a passion for animals and a genuine concern for their welfare. They identified an opportunity to provide exceptional care for pets whilst their owners were on holidays, and the business commenced operation with the initial capacity to accommodate 200 dogs and cats.
In 1995 Hanrob expanded into specialised training services, providing Quarantine Detector Dogs to Australian Quarantine Inspection Services (AQIS). This service has since expanded and now supplies dogs to other local and international government departments and private organisations.
Andrew Biggs, the son of Hannie and Bob, joined the company in 2004 as the Managing Director and is the next generation of the family business. He has 20 years experience in the Pet Care Industry and has worked in various other industries such as the motor vehicle industry and the charity sector. Prior to this role he was the founder and CEO of Assistance Dogs Australia, a charity which trains dogs to help people with physical disabilities (Hanrob’s charity of choice). He was instrumental in the set up and developed numerous initiatives to ensure the sustainability of the organisation to his successor.
Hanrob is set on 10 acres of land, with some of the most modern pet accommodation and training facilities in the southern hemisphere and is one of Australia’s largest private pet boarding and training service providers. Hanrob is renowned for providing the ultimate level of pet care, dog training and education services throughout Australia and overseas. The facility now accommodates up to 500 dogs and cats and is world class.
Over the past 25 years the company has grown to meet demand and changing societal trends. In 2005 the company was split into three divisions to effectively manage the growth and prepare for further expansion.
